Product Description
FX Milk Paint
(Interior & Exterior)
FX Milk Paint is an authentic lime-based coating using modern technology to replicate the original lime/milk finish, so
distinctly ‘old Europe’ but much favoured in contemporary décor for its mellow, matt finish. Hard-wearing and stylish
when used on large surface areas, but also perfect for smaller projects such as achieving ‘limed’ or distressed finishes
on feature walls and furniture. Different application methods will vary final effect.

FX Milk Paint produces many different special effects on all prepared surfaces such as plaster, plasterboard, cement
render and unglazed brick. Ideal for use on timber walls, furniture, and decorative pieces.
Surface Preparation
All surfaces must be thoroughly cleaned and free of dirt, dust, grease, loose or flaking paint, and loose surface plaster.
Efflorescence or mould on masonry or concrete surfaces must be treated. Flatten gloss surfaces by thoroughly sanding
and wipe clean with a damp cloth. Apply FX Stucco Undercoat on both interior and exterior surfaces.
Note: May be applied over lime-based cement render without undercoating.
Note: Always apply FX Stucco Undercoat to pre-painted surfaces.
Application
Stir contents thoroughly before use with a broad, flat stirrer, using an upward action.
Brush/Roller: Apply first coat by roller and second coat using a 75 mm or 100 mm brush in a criss-cross fashion, or a long
or short nap roller, depending on desired effect. Use the same application method for subsequent coats.
Note: When applying over lime-based cement render, spray a light film of water before application of FX Milk Paint.
To protect the finish (interior only), 1–2 coats of FX Liquid Wax is recommended, applied using a clean white cloth.
Approximate Spreading Rate:12–16 square metres per litre, depending on application technique and surface
roughness.
Approximate Film Thickness per coat: Wet: 40 Microns; Dry: 20 Microns.
Requires: 2–3 coats.
Thinner: Not usually required.
Tinting: Refer to colour chart for tinting specifications.
Method: Brush, roller.
Drying Times (at 25 °C): Touch: 2 Hours; Recoat: 12 Hours.
Note: Do not apply paint if the air temperature or substrate temperature is below 10 °C or above 35 °C.
The temperature should not fall below 10 °C during the drying process.
Clean-up: Water. Safety: Glasses, Gloves & Mask. Gloss Level: Less than 5% at a 60° viewing angle.

Safety
Personal Protection: Wear eye protection and dust mask when spraying, as splashes may cause eye irritation and inhalation of spray
mist may cause respiratory irritation.
Asbestos cement sheeting: Do not disturb, sand or scrub, and avoid any peripheral dust. If you do not have professional expertise
in handling/removal of asbestos sheeting, use a licensed asbestos removalist.

Clean-up
Slippery when spilled · Restrict access to area until clean-up is completed · When cleaning up spills, use personal protection
equipment · Stop leak if safe to do so and contain spill with absorbent material such as sand, vermiculite or other inert material ·
Prevent spill from entering waterways · Collect and dispose of spilled material according to local regulations · Wash away remnants
with liberal amounts of cold water.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated place out of direct sunlight · Store away from strong acids and moisture · Keep containers closed
at all times and check regularly for spills.
Disposal
Refer to State/Territory Land Waste Management Authority: most authorities permit disposal at approved land waste sites.
